Pre-Workout Paradox

Pre-workout

“What’s your pre, bro?”. An age-old question by now, but the responses I hear are rather disturbing. The same thing can also be said about nearly all ‘protein powders’ and many other common workout supplements as well (ie: BCAA’s).

We live in a reality where people have severely lost their ways. A major lack of proper education is partially to blame here, but that’s also why I’ve awoken to the cause. In this lifetime, you will witness the topics written about in this article be brought to light.

“Their inaction amounts to approval of an ongoing experiment with children.”

Nothing in life is worth pursuing without some prior examination, especially when it comes to health. For example, thoroughly inspecting the ingredient labels of products before they’re consumed or purchased. These products typically contain a litany of chemicals that further contribute to today’s sky-rocketing rates of chronic illness, yet are still being eaten like candy.

Yes, that means everyone’s favorite pre-workouts…

Such as Gorilla Mode, Kaged, C4, and tons more (pages worth) contain several poisonous substances. Poison that’s being paid for, and will also be paid for again later in life (in hospital bills and medications) if it’s not stopped sooner rather than later.

No living organism should ever consume these materials. So, how are they even on the market? The NIH, FDA and CDC have failed us all miserably. Due to being dominated by corporate interests, these systems, in particular, have become severely compromised and should no longer be trusted as effective systems to properly regulate hazardous materials.

The following topics at hand, I urge you all to educate yourselves on as thoroughly as possible. Not only for yourselves but for the ones you care about as well.

Your futures literally depend on it.

Cancer-Coated Candy

Just another name for the plethora of artificial sweeteners currently found in many of today’s products. Aspartame, saccharin, xylitol, and sucralose are just a few of them. Not only are they stored in the body for weeks at a time (doi.org, 2018), but they’re also linked to leukemia, weight gain, obesity, diabetes, liver inflammation, and other illnesses.

These substances negatively alter the gut microbiota, which interacts with every biological system found within the human-body. (doi.org, 2008) It is responsible for regulating proper glucose disposal (body fat), mood (why so mad?), heart health (lifespan), and so much more.

Don’t think Stevia is okay, either. I shouldn’t have to remind you not to eat leaves, but here I am. All artificial sweeteners, especially Stevia have been linked to a dysfunction of the dopamine-reward system (sugar-motivated behavior) in mammals. In simpler words, they all make you depressed. (insight.jci.org, 2022)

Speaking of being depressed, let’s try to bring some more color into the picture…

Color Me Crazy

In 1990, the FDA partially banned the color Red #3 in cosmetics due to compelling research that revealed its immense carcinogenicity in mammals, yet have failed to do so in foods for the past 32 years.

One could speculate that the FDA actually WANTS you to eat it. Since it’s found in so many ‘food’ and ‘drink’ products today, especially the ones marketed towards children. Speaking of children, their consumption of artificial colors/dyes have gone up by 500% in the past 50 years, which obviously isn’t good at all.

The FDA has also devised several loopholes over the decades in order to avoid taking care of this ‘cancer’ as it continues to spread and wreak havoc across our nation. (nih.gov, 2010)

Unfortunately, that’s not all. Here in the United States, Red #3 is just one of too many synthetic dyes still allowed in human-grade products, and they’re even found in some medications! A few common ones would be Red #40, Yellow #5, Yellow #6, and Blue #1. As for uncommon colors, one that not many know about, but should, is Citrus Red #2. This is used on Floridian oranges to make them brighter, and it doesn’t have to be disclosed, either. It is highly toxic to humans, and is known to cause bladder stones and carcinomas in animal models. (pubmed.com)

Other countries, such as Europe, have already banned many of these synthetics, and currently only use natural alternatives such as beet powder to color their consumables. For instance, a McDonald’s strawberry sundae is colored with real strawberries in the EU, while the ones in the US are colored with Red #40. It’s almost like America is one big experiment, but Bernard Weiss said it best:

“Their inaction amounts to approval of an ongoing experiment with children.”

It must be made well aware the extent of harm these substances can cause to the body, even in low amounts. The thresholds that the FDA have declared safe, are not, plain and simple. Not only do these dyes cause cancer, potentiate ADHD (nih.gov, 2012), behavioral issues (depression), and other neurological disorders, but they are also known to cause hives, asthma, and several other negative reactions as well. (doi.org, 1966)

Several hundred studies to back it all, yet the FDA still chimes in with their classic phrase that we all should know by now: “They’re safe, given the available safety data”.

Some of the studies are decades old, the oldest approaching century status. Many of which have been presented to the FDA on numerous occasions, only to be deliberately ignored.

Keep in mind, I’ve hardly even begun to scratch the surface with the information I’ve provided.

Regulated Regularity

It can become quite the task to safely navigate such an extensive marketplace stocked with these discretely-masked, prettified poisons on every shelf and listing.

When it comes to effectively sourcing safe, high-quality research material, one should always account for the branding’s operational standards. This means having licensed technology on-site for routine batch-testing, to ensure product quality, consistency, the absence of heavy-metals/contaminants, and more.

Due to Nootropics Depot having their very own cGMP/ISO 17025 accredited lab, I have a strong lean towards them for all of my necessary and additional supplementation.

Never have I encountered this level of quality before in my entire life, and I can even confidently claim the same about their more common-day items as well.

I mean, how can it be that even their creatine is consistently whiter than other brands, too? (pubmed.gov, 2019)

It should really make us wonder what we may have been putting in our bodies all these years.

With access to the information we have today, the dark days of consuming spiked workout supplements and heavy-metal laden, carcinogenic products can now begin coming to an end. (nih.gov, 2020)

Which is actually bittersweet, because it simultaneously requires the realization that many brands, sponsors, and their affiliates don’t have a single milligram of care for their consumers.

What I Recommend

The following items simply can’t be beat when it comes to a proper pre-workout concoction. They’re cheap, highly-effective, and there’s zero worry of tolerance build-up over time.

L-Citrulline DL-Malate 2:13 grams – 6 grams
Cordyceps 10:1 Dual Extract250 milligrams – 1 gram (1-2x/day)
ALCAR (Carnitine)500 milligrams – 1 gram (1-2x/day)
DL-Phenylalanine500 milligrams – 1 gram (1-2x/day)
Agmatine Sulfate250 milligrams – 1 gram (1-2x/day)
Sabroxy®100 milligrams – 500 milligrams
Taurine500 milligrams – 1 gram (1-2x/day)

I enjoy taking these items 30 minutes prior to working out. They provide a sick pump, loads of endurance, numerous health benefits, and a ton of natural energy with no crash or risk of negatively effecting sleep later on, even if dosed close to bed.

There are also a few caffeine products and various other nootropics such as Dynamine, GS15-4, and Salidrosol + Tyrosol for the stimulant lovers.
